2022 in Review
This year was rocky for me as a photographer. The forest I frequently go to for walks, and often leave from with awesome photos of things I found, was destroyed. I’m sure it was all part of their future plans since it is a wildlife management area, but it was heartbreaking. I didn’t spend as much time on the hobby this year largely as a result of this.
Despite that, it was still a great year for many other things and I did develop skills and experiences in the world of underwater photography. We were dive certified this year and spent a lot of time in the water. We even saw all of the turtles. Exciting finds like that kept us going back to the water for more. I bought a tiny camera sometime last year and it happened to come from a scuba diver and photographer – so I got some cool accessories with it I got to use. Mainly, the dive housing.
This year didn’t yield quite as many macros, and school schedules (for Amber) means I didn’t get to do as many creative sessions – but I have lots of ideas and inspiration for 2023. I spent some time at the end of the year going back and doing fresh edits on old photos from 2017 to now with some awesome results. I can definitely see how much my editing skills (and tastes) have grown over the last few years. I hope to spend more time with people in 2023 and look forward to seeing what the new year will have to offer.
