2021 in Review
This year was a peak year for me as a photographer. I took so many of some of my favorite photos this year. I improved on color grading, framing, and more. The biggest improvement was in lighting my macro photos. In my search for a diffuser solution, I chose the AK-Diffuser and the difference was night-and-day.
Looking back on all of the photos I took in 2021, I feel like I developed a mastery of the macro photography style I had been chasing over the years. I captured so many mushrooms, one of my favorite subjects, in detail I was never able to achieve before. Seriously – seeing the spores blowing in the wind on mushrooms that were smaller than the tip of my finger was very exciting. Not to mention, seeing pollen on a flower with so much detail you could count the pollen grains.
Among some of my favorite photos this year are the witch-themed portraits, oil and paint abstract macros, some really cool spiders, lots of mushrooms, a golden hour fantasy photoshoot at Bartram Forest in Milledgeville, and Shiitake with his flower petal crown… But there were almost 200 photos I wanted to share from 2021, so narrowing it down to enough for a webpage was difficult.
